About The Owner, Glen

Mount Tallac ~ 2017

I’m a local family & small business man who has an amazing wife, 4 awesome children (that includes triplets), 3 incredible grandchildren and 2 friendly, yet electrified dogs (Buster in pic and Bruno came after). My wife and I have owned homes in Rancho Cordova and Cameron Park before settling in El Dorado Hills to raise our family.

For 35+ years I have maintained pools where I’ve lived, and found it easy and enjoyable. I soon learned consistent monitoring of the chemicals, preventive maintenance and routine checking of the equipment not only helped avoid issues from snowballing into larger ones, but also saved a lot of time, effort and money too.

Now that all 4 of my kids are grown up & off to their own exciting adventures (triplets are currently in college), I was blessed with the time and opportunity to finally start my own business and Hunton Pool Service was born!

I started mowing lawns and other stuff before I became a teenager. From 17 to 48 years old, I worked for 3 large corporations. During that time I’ve held various job titles throughout my career, yet 3 things remained consistent:
1- I always started at the bottom and worked my way up; consistently striving to do better.
2- I was always in a customer service type of role so I continually worked on building relationships to better understand the needs of the customer, how to effectively communicate and serve them well so when/if an issue came up we could successfully work through it together.
3- Regardless if it was an upset customer, hardware or software issue I often was pulled into the problem solving/solutioning conversations. Partly because I was calm enough to deal with escalated situations, yet mostly I believe because it truly brings me joy to help others and the challenge with turning a negative into a future positive is a great feeling too.

Before I started this company, I took a lot of time and effort to fully research the pool service industry (as well as a few other career opportunities). This included meeting, talking to, shadowing and working with local long time pool service owners to ensure this was a good fit for me.

By taking the time and effort to research this industry in great detail, not only did I already have a solid mentor, but also gained another with 25 years of experience owning his own pool service businesses locally.

I also joined the local Capital Valley IPSSA chapter (Independent Pool & Spa Service Association) and currently serving on the board as the Membership Chairperson.

That said know I am dedicated to be there until the end and confident I have the tools, resources to resolve any challenge I’m faced with in a reasonable amount of time. On top of that, if I’m ever in a position where I am unable to address/resolve your issue in a timely manner, I’ll be fully transparent by letting you know and provide references of others who can.

Back in 2010 I started participating in an annual Mexico Mission trip with my oldest daughter. The next year my wife and triplets joined us.

In 2012 I became known as Jefe’ and started leading the small yet mighty team that averaged about 40 kids & adults each year until 2020 due to Covid. So much more I could say about the Mexico Mission trip and everyone involved, yet I’ll leave that for a future conversation!

Another thing that brings me joy (yet don’t do enough) is cycling on my road bike. I love the Folsom/Sacramento trails and learned to appreciate all the hills in my neighborhood of El Dorado Hills & my Cameron Park backyard.

Riding in our foothills has given me the ability to take on the 72 mile ride around Lake Tahoe (totaling over 4,024 vertical feet of elevation gain) 3 times in 3 different years. I planned to do it again with my daughter in June of 2020 before she headed to college, but unfortunately Covid put a damper on that ride too.

If you are ever interested in riding around Lake Tahoe, I highly recommend going through Bike The West. For almost 30 years, they & The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society have hosted 2 rides annually (June & September) for thousands of riders for a great cause.

As you can probably tell, all the above is the abridged sample of my life just to give you a glimpse into who I am, still striving to be and have joy in my life.

Thank you for reading to the end, I hope you have a great rest of your day/evening!

Kindest Regards & God Bless
